Minister of Home Affairs Azleen Ahmed has assured security and safety will be provided for the candidates contesting in the presidential election.
Security forces aim to establish peace and stability across the country as part of the efforts of the government to hold a free and fair election in Maldives, Home Minister Azleen Ahmed said speaking on a programme aired on PSM News. Dismissing doubts raised regarding security arrangements, Minister Azleen reiterated security will be arranged according to laws and regulations to every candidate despite the political allegiance.
Speaking on the programme, the Home Minister noted the situation of Maldives has improved following the strategic implementations of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
Elections Commission has announced the Presidential Election 2018 will be held on September 23.
