Elections Commission of Maldives has publicised the voters list for Presidential Election 2018 scheduled to be held on September 23. The voters list published stated that 260,180 individuals are eligible to cast votes in the election. Elections Commission has given until June 20 to file any complaints regarding the voters list.
Spokesperson of Elections Commission Ahmed Akram urged the public to check and file complaints to eliminate any last minute chaos. The voters list was published after referring to the information from Department of National Registration, said Ahmed Akram. Noting there might be names of those deceased, the Election Commission noted it is because some families have not given information of those deceased in foreign countries to Department of National Registration.
Furthermore, Elections Commission advised the public to give support and cooperation to eliminate any doubt on the voters list.
