Asia-Pacific media summit sub-forums begin

Activities held as part of the Asia-Pacific Media Summit have begun, with the sub-forums being the first events to take place.

This year’s Asia-Pacific Media Summit will be held in China from the 3rd to the 5th of September. The official opening ceremony of the Asia-Pacific Media Forum will take place on the 5th, with the sub-forums getting underway ahead of the ceremony.

The sub-forums are being held in Guangzhou, Tongguan and Zhuhai in China. Maldives Ambassador to China Dr Fazeel Najeeb and Public Service Media (PSM) Chairperson Aminath Namza attended the opening ceremony of the sub-forum held in Guangzhou.

Two panel discussions were held at the Guangzhou sub-forum. The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and exploring ways to make artificial intelligence a new driving force for development in the region. Ambassador Fazeel participated in the panel discussions.

The sub-forums have been organised to provide participants with different experiences through visits to key sites showcasing economic and urban development in the respective areas.

The summit is being organised jointly by the Central Propaganda Department, Xinhua News Agency and the Guangdong Provincial Government.

The theme of this year’s Asia-Pacific Media Summit is “Building the Road to Prosperity of the Asia-Pacific Community Through Media Consensus and Action.”

More than 400 delegates representing 220 media organisations from 42 countries across the Asia-Pacific region are participating in this year’s summit. The participants include representatives from international media companies, universities specialising in media, government institutions, United Nations agencies and international organisations.
