MNDF urges to ensure safety in sea transportation

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has urged to ensure safety in sea transportation. The warning of MNDF came following the caution of Maldives Meteorological Service of heavy rain and wind.
In a statement, MNDF advised against sea transportation unless necessary and urged transport service providers to ensure the safety of passengers. The statement of MNDF also reflected on several marine incidents reported in the past couple of days advising to prepare vessels with the necessary safety measures before beginning any trips.
Furthermore, the coast guard also advised divers and organisers of water sports and activities to follow weather bulletins and updates urging to refrain from any activities in bad weathers. Showers are likely to be heavy in northern atolls while isolated showers are expected to southern atolls. Sea travellers are advised to take necessary precautions as strong winds and rough seas expected, particularly in north and central atolls.
Swell wave are expected during high tide times, according to the Meteorological Service.
