MATATO hold Maldivian night to promote Maldives in India

The Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) has hosted a Maldivian Night in Mumbai, India. The event was organised as part of the ongoing campaign by MATATO to attract 100,000 tourists from India in 2018 as part of its destination marketing strategy.
Maldivian Night was attended by more than 200 travel professionals from both countries and served to create a business networking event where Maldivian hoteliers and travel agents had the opportunity to meet and conduct business with more than 150 travel agents and tour operators in India, according to MATATO.
The organisers also gave local resorts the opportunity to participate in the event. During the event, participants got the opportunity to network and showcase Maldives to other participants.
MATATO decided to hold an event specialised for India, as Indian market is very important for Maldives. In 2017, Maldives attracted 83,019 tourists from India, a growth of 24% compared to the previous year.
