Elections Commission receives submissions to establish 2 political parties

Elections Commission of Maldives has said it has received documents to establish two new political parties in Maldives.
Speaking to the press, President of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef said one of the submissions were rejected as the necessary information were not complete. Information regarding the new political party will be made public, added Ahmed Shareef.
There are six political parties currently registered in Maldives; which are Progressive Party of Maldives, Maldivian Democratic Party, Jumhooree Party, Maldives Development Alliance, Adhaalath Party and Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party.
