Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture has revealed plans of opening application opportunity for Maldivian farmers under the initiative of the government to reduce the amount of fruits and vegetables imported to the country.
The application forms will be available for interested parties in the next 3 weeks, as per information provided by the Ministry of Fisheries and Agriculture. The Ministry revealed loans worth over USD 388,000 would be provided as part of the initiative.

The import of 5 types of fruits and vegetables are expected to be decreased with the implementation of the initiative, according to the Ministry. The government estimates 1866 tonnes of local farming products are introduced to the market every year.
