Opposition made business related conditions to resume talks

Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr. Mohamed Shainee has said the opposition has made several conditions related to the business interests of key individuals, when the government extended invitation to resume all-party talks.

The government has extended invitations to the opposition, on 10 occasions, to resume all-party talks, Fisheries Minister Shainee noted speaking on PSM News. The lead representative of the government at the all-party talks expressed with regret the opposition has rejected all attempts to engage with the administration in constructive dialogue.

The Maldivian Fisheries Minister noted the opposition attempts to topple the lawfully elected government of Maldives instead of engaging in dialogue. The calls of the opposition, especially former President Mohamed Nasheed, for foreign military intervention in the political affairs of the country, highlighted the Minister. Minister Shainee urged the opposition to refrain from acts which would deliberately lead the country in to chaos.

Furthermore, he assured the Presidential Elections scheduled to be held in September 2018 would be free, fair and credible, highlighting the government is immensely prepared and ready to support the relevant authorities and stakeholders.
