MMPRC does not waste state funds: Haris

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has refuted claims by the opposition alliance that the corporation has wasted state funds in adverting Maldives as a peaceful tourism destination to the international community.

Speaking on a programme aired on PSM News, Acting Managing Director of MMPRC Haris Mohamed said that in the two years that has passed since formation, it has always remained cautious in investing and utilizing money in ways which would benefit the nation. In this regard Haris emphasized that the current administration has made history by bringing much desired development to the tourism sector.

Speaking on the programme, Haris revealed MMPRC’s efforts in bringing out the true principles and traditions of Maldivians to the forefront, in creating a brand for the country in the international community. Haris said that the administration has been successful in nullifying efforts of the opposition alliance to deteriorate the Maldivian tourism sector.

Haris added that efforts by the opposition would not bring any positive outcome for the Maldives and the Maldivian economy. He called on all Maldivians to cooperate with MMPRC in its effort to create a prosperous future for all Maldivians.

In January, MMPRC participated in FITUR Fair held in Madrid, Spain, BOOT 2018 held in Dusseldorf, Germany, FESPO in Zurich, Switzerland, OneWorld Travel Mart (OTM) 2018 held in Mumbai, India and East Mediterranean International Travel and Tourism Exhibition 2018 (EMITT) held in Istanbul, Turkey.
