JSC suspends Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed

Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has suspended Chief Justice Abdulla Saeed and launches a probe into accusations of treason, accepting bribes and alleged involvement in a coup attempt. The Chief Justice is currently under the custody of Maldives Police Service.

Previously, JSC has suspended Judge Ali Hameed and launched a probe into the accusations against him. Maldives Police Service has arrested 4 individuals for their alleged involvement in a coup attempt, including former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom who was arrested for his alleged role and involvement in a coup attempt, bribing parliamentarians, judges and influencing judicial rulings,
