President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has reiterated that the final decision regarding nation's affairs must remain in the hands of Maldivians. The President made the remarks while speaking at a function held by Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM).
President Yameen stated that the nation belongs to all Maldivians and reminded that it is a national duty to uphold the honour and reputation of the nation, in regard to opposition inviting foreigners to intervene in the internal affairs of Maldives. Highlighting the unfavorable events of Febuary 1, President Yameen with regret expressed that it is unacceptable and emphasised that it should not have taken place.
In his speech, the President mentioned the challenges to his administration in running the country peacefully, repeating his heartfelt gratitude for the security forces for their unwavering support and faith. President Yameen praised the Maldivian women for their sincerity and steadfastness in supporting the Administration in its efforts to develop the country.
