Government tumbles down cost spent by public on health services

Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim has stated that the current administration has been successful in tumbling down the expenditure spent by the general public on health services by over 70 percent. The Maldivian Health Minister noted this as a huge accomplishment for a small nation such as Maldives and credited to the various mechanisms introduced by the administration.

Under the objective of providing quality services to all citizens of the nation, the government expanded the health care insurance service through which Maldivians are entitled to free health care service. A total of over 37,000 patients have attained health care from foreign facilities, as per the latest statistics released by Asandha Company Limited.

In addition, over USD19.5 million has been covered for the pharmacy bills under the expanded health care insurance service scheme.
