Managing Director of MACL Adil Moosa stated that the waterfront restaurant which is being designed to incorporate famous fast-food franchise brands had faced various hurdles in development due to the hectic movements at Velana International Airport.

MACL however assures that all design and structural work has been completed. MACL plans to inaugurate three fast food franchises, with the inauguration of the building. All preparations about signing agreements with these fast food franchises have also been completed. The airport is a key infrastructure that supports the Maldives multi-billion-dollar tourism industry.

This structure is being developed as a two-storey building. The first floor is being developed as a ferry terminal to be used by passengers who utilize the domestic terminal, while the second floor is to be designated as a fast-food area. The building will have the capacity to serve 200-300 customers at a time.
