Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim has stressed on the importance of the police force working together with and for the community. The Minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at Graduation Ceremony of short-term courses conducted by the Institute for Security and Law Enforcement Studies (ISLES) of Maldives Police Service.
Addressing the ceremony, Minister Asim highlighted the importance of institution and capacity building to effectively cater to the demands of new and modern societies. Noting that even though Maldives is small country and that the threat of terrorism is not minor, Minister Asim called on the police force to be prepared to counter any threats of terrorism.
Furthermore, Foreign Minister stated that police should work to ensure the safety of tourists and foreigners adding that the government has also enhanced its efforts to ensure safety for tourists. Minister Asim appreciated the efforts of ISLES in building human capacity in Maldives.
