Ministry of Education has revealed that the opportunity to apply for 2050 scholarships would be opened on 21, December 2017.
The Education Ministry stated that the new scholarships are being granted under President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom’s pledge to provide opportunity for Maldivian youth to attain higher education.
The scholarships which are provided under the programme ‘Promoting Skills for the Future’, would provide opportunities to complete certificate level to diploma level courses from colleges and universities in Maldives.
The Education Ministry expects the selected applicants to commence studies in January 2018.
The Ministry revealed that there are 5200 students attaining higher studies under the loan scheme and that the government has invested about 65 million U.S. dollars for the programme.
President Yameen had announced that the government would fund over 3000 scholarships in 2018.
