Russian and Vietnamese Ambsassadors call on Foreign Minister

The Non-Resident Ambassador of Russia and the Non-Resident Ambassador of Vietnam have called on the Foreign Minister of Maldives in two separate meetings.

The new Non-Resident Ambassador of Russia to the Maldives Yury Materiy called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim. At the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister Dr. Asim congratulated Ambassador Materiy on his appointment and stated that Maldives attaches great importance to its relations with Russia. Minister Asim expressed hope to further strengthen existing bilateral ties between both countries, with the contribution of the Ambassador.

Minister Asim and Ambassador Materiy exchanged views on further enhancing cooperation and reflected on ways to strengthen the existing relations, especially in the areas of trade, investment, tourism and other areas of mutual interest.

Furthermore, the Non-Resident Ambassador of Vietnam to the Maldives Phan Kieu Thu paid a farewell call on the Minister Asim. At the meeting, both Minister Asim and the Ambassador discussed on exploring ways to further consolidate the bilateral ties that exist between the two countries. Highlighted that Vietnam remains an important bilateral development partner of the Maldives, Minister Asim noted the growing number of Maldivians travelling to Vietnam for various purposes including for trade and commerce.

Minister Asim and Ambassador Thu expressed hopes of further strengthening the existing close and friendly relations between the two countries.
