Minister of Home Affairs Azleen Ahmed has launched the toll free number 1478, with the aim to attend the cases regarding the safety and security of passengers and tourists travelling via Velana International Airport.
Addressing the key note of the launching ceremony of the toll free number, Home Minister Azleen Ahmed stated that the new service launched cannot be regarded as a small step in the fast pace development of the tourism industry. Maldives is in a great need of service to ensure the safety and security of the tourists arriving in Maldives and with the establishment of the new service, the communication barriers ensuring these factors would be eased, added Minister Azleen.
The Airport Police Service was established in Velana International Airport in 2009. The Maldivian government has exerted various efforts to ensure the safety and security of the tourists, including training programmes carried out in collaboration with foreign airports.
