FAM Charity football matches garner public support

The charity football matches organized by Football Association of Maldives to raise funds for Rohingya Muslims have garnered huge support from public.

The five matches were held at Galolhu stadium on Friday night. The matches were played between teams comprising of veteran football stars, current players for national teams, celebrities, members of cabinet, parliamentarians and managing directors of state companies.

All proceeds collected through ticket sales, jersey auctions and fund boxes placed at the stadium will be donated to the PSM and Government led Rohingya Muslims fund raising event.

It is noteworthy that the highest bid for jersey auction was made for jersey number 18 which belonged to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom. His excellency's jersey was auctioned off for MVR 1.5 Million.

Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer's jersey also fetched MVR 500,000 through the auction process.
