China and Maldives celebrate 45 years of diplomatic relations

The Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Maldives has hosted a reception to mark the 45th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Maldives and China and the 68th National Day of China.

Minister of Economic Development, Mohamed Saeed attended the reception as the Chief Guest. Speaking at the reception held at Kurumba Maldives, Minister Saeed highlighted the close bilateral cooperation, and the invaluable contributions made by China over the recent years for the socio-economic development of the Maldives.

Maldives established diplomatic relations with China on the 14th of October 1972. Since then, the close and cordial relations between the two countries have paved ways forward to further expand and enhance the ties and create more opportunities for the people of the two countries.

A series of events have been organized by Maldives and China to mark the commemorative year.

The reception was attended by cabinet ministers, members of the Parliament, Diplomatic Corp and high level officials from the government and private sector.
