Off season tourist arrivals to Maldives increase by 5.5%

Ministry of Tourism has revealed that tourist arrivals in the off season are increasing compared to the previous years.

Tourist arrivals increased by 5.5% at the end of July 2017, according to statistical data released by the Tourism Ministry. The Ministry revealed that total tourist count was at 58,936 tourists in July with 770,715 tourist arrivals in the first six months of 2017. Tourism Ministry had confirmed that 47% of the arrivals accounted from European markets. In July, a total of 362,354 tourists visited Maldives from Europe which is a 10.8% increase.

Top visitor countries in July include China, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, India, Russia, France, United States of America, Japan and Switzerland.

The government's effort towards a higher visitor count for this year to boost tourism industry has so far been creditable, according to the statistics.
