Director of Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), Chang Jin says the main outcome of 16th General Conference held in Maldives was to formulate a new strategic plan to improve services provided to member countries. The AIBD Director said that many discussions were held during and on the sidelines of the AIBD meeting.
Speaking on Talk Maldives TV programme, aired on PSM News, Director of Asia-Pacific Institute for Broadcasting Development (AIBD), Chang Jin said the main outcome of the 16th General Conference of AIDB hosted by Public Service Media in Bandos Maldives Resort was the decision to form a new strategic plan for the institute in order to further strengthen its services to member countries.
"The main outcome is we made the decision to upgrade the strategic plan for the institute. So we are going to draft a new strategic plan for AIBD to improve its service to its members. The strategic plan the deadline is to finish it in one year. Next year we are going to have a new strategic plan,” the Director said on the programme. The AIBD Director said the meeting also aimed to review what the institute has done in the past year and plan ahead the work structure of AIBD for the upcoming year. Director, Chang Jin stated that Asia Media Summit will be held in New Delhi, India, next year.
Speaking on the programme, the AIBD Director noted that, in addition to workshops and the Asia Media Summit, AIBD also conducts research. Chan Jin said during the AIBD General Conference the delegates reviewed reports and made plans accordingly to implement necessary for expanding the broadcasting sector.
Speaking on the programme, the AIBD director also praised PSM for successfully planning the conference. The Maldives hosted the 16th General Conference of AIDB, co-organized by Public Service Media in Bandos Maldives Resort from August 21 to 22.
AIBD, established in 1977 under the auspices of UNESCO, is a unique regional inter-governmental organisation servicing countries of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN-ESCAP) in the field of electronic media development. It is hosted by the Government of Malaysia and the secretariat is located in Kuala Lumpur.
