Audit Office drafts a bill to establish a accounting body

The Auditor General's Office has revealed that a draft bill on establishing a professional accounting body has been sent to Prosecutor General's Office for approval.

Auditor General, Hassan Ziyath stated that major work has been conducted as part of the effort to set up the professional accounting body, which aims make the auditing sector more accountable and reliable. Hassan Ziyath further stated that with the implementation of proposed body auditing sector would see huge infrastructural and human resource upgrades.  

With the establishment of the body obstacles faced in the auditor accountancy industry would be overcome, opening up paths for discussions and information exchanges to make auditing more reliable, according to the Auditor General.

The Auditor General's Office revealed that a Maldives Accountancy Forum is also scheduled to be held annually.
