The Ambassador of China to Maldives, Wang Fukang has paid a farewell call on President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.
During the call held this morning at the President's Office, the President expressed his sincere gratitude for the generous assistance and the continued support rendered by the Ambassador as well as the Government of China for the socio-economic development of Maldives. During the call, President conveyed his confidence in working closely with the Government of China to strengthen the excellent relations with greater collaboration between the two countries.
Highlighting the contributions of China to the development of Maldives, the President noted with appreciation, the major developmental projects that are currently underway. The President also thanked the instrumental role played by the Ambassador for the success of these projects and expressed hopes to receive the same level of support and cooperation from his successor.
The Ambassador expressed the honour and privilege to serve as the Ambassador of China to Maldives, and thanked the President and the Government of Maldives for the excellent support and cooperation extended to the Ambassador during his tenure. The Ambassador also took confidence in the Government of Maldives for its determination to further enhance the close collaboration between the two countries in both bilateral and international forums.
As this year marks the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Maldives and China, the President and the Ambassador discussed on exploring areas of cooperation to further strengthen the historic relations that exist between the two countries.
