SABAH Maldives Annual Bazaar kicks off

SABAH Maldives Annual Bazaar has kicked off, Monday night, in the National Art Gallery.

The fair was officially inaugurated by the Registrar of Companies at Ministry of Economic Development Mariyam Wisam.

Addressing the inaugural function, Vice Chairperson of SABAH Maldives and Deputy Minister of Economic Development Abdulla Mohamed said that, in the three years that have passed since the establishment of SABAH Maldives, the organization has achieved several successes. Abdulla Mohamed said that the organization's efforts to market products by Maldivian homebased workers, have expanded. He said that today, the organization's membership has exceeded the 1000 member mark.

The Deputy Minister also noted a number of activities being carried out to empower members including training programs and exposure trips. He revealed that discussions are underway to ensure that in the future, products by SABAH members would be sold at Hotel Jen, State Trading Organization (STO) and Island Aviation. He also said that discussions are underway to arrange means through which SABAH products can be sold in the South Asia region.

Addressing the inaugural function, Registrar of Companies Mariyam Wisam said that Maldives is a country that have talented women entrepreneurs who only lack a platform to showcase their talents.

She said that the main purpose of creating SABAH was to make their products available for the masses and ensure their progress and called on women entrepreneurs to make good use of the platform.

SABAH Maldives is a for profit co-operative society registered in the Maldives with a shareholding of 40% by Maldivian Homebased Workers and 60% by the Government of Maldives.
