Elections Commission has revealed that representatives from The Forum of Election Management Bodies of South Asia (FEMBOSA) and Europe, are observing today’s local council election.
Speaking with PSM News, President of theElections Commission Ahmed Sulaiman said, all arrangements have been made to ensurea free and fair election. Making final remarks to PSM News regarding the polls,Sulaiman said that FEMBOSA and European representatives would be observing theelection at various polling stations across the country. He said that observersarrived in the target islands on Thursday. Sulaiman called on all citizens tocarry out their individual responsibility of voting in the election.
This is the third local elections to be held in the countryfollowing the implementation of the Decentralization Act. 255, 987 eligiblevoters are expected cast votes in the local council elections for 1487candidates who are contesting seats in numerous administrative regions acrossthe country, according to Elections Commission.
