President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has described solving various municipal issues faced by residents of Malé City as a major achievement for the administration.
The President attributed the delays in solving the issues of waste management and flooding in the capital city, to the negligence of authorities that were handling municipal responsibilities at the time. He said that however, due to the current administration making it a top priority, the issues had been swiftly solved.
President Yameen noted how relevant authorities, despite being granted specific budgets to address the issues, failed to so. He added that now, his administration has solved the issues in accordance with a long term plan, which would guarantee further development and progress to the capital city in the future. He said that instead of targeting a certain island, the administration has been working towards inclusive development for all citizens.
