Minister of Economic Affairs Mohamed Saeed has announced that President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom would be receiving an honorary doctorate from a prestigious Indian university, in recognition of his efforts during a short period of time to better the socio-economic status of Maldives.
Addressing an event held by ruling Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), the Economic Minister revealed that the honorary doctorate was offered by Lovely Professional University. Lovely Professional University is a semi-residential university college in North India created under the Punjab State Private University Act 2005.
The President would be recognized for his work in defence of the Islam and national identity in addition to his success in improving prospects for the nation and its youth. Minister Saeed expressed pride in the president’s achievements and stated that the president sacrifices his personal interests for the interests of Maldivian citizens.
