President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of congratulations to Donald J. trump, President of the United States of America, on his inauguration.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Maldives, it gives me great pleasure to convey our congratulations and sincere good wishes on the occasion of your inauguration as the 45th President of the United States of America,” the message read. “Your election victory has once again confirmed the strength of America’s democratic tradition, and at a moment when the global community faces issues of profound concern, it serves as a reminder of the enduring values which all true democracies share.”
“Our nation warmly welcomes the start of your Administration and my Government looks forward to working closely with you over the years to come,” it added.
The message concluded by saying that “while we strive together to further strengthen the already close bonds of trust and friendship between our two nations, allow me to also convey my personal best wishes for your good health and well-being, as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of the United States of America.”
