Velidhoo harbour development project nears completion

Velidhoo Island Council says the island's harbour development project is nearing completion.

The contractor has now completed 80 percent of the jetty area and 60 percent of the outer seawall, Vice-President of Velidhoo Island Council, Ibrahim Ali told PSM News.

Dredging and other works of the project will be completed by July of this year, he added.

The construction of the 1000-foot long and 550-foot wide harbour was contracted to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) in March 2016.

Velidhoo has a population of 2700 people.
