VP leaves for India to attend inauguration of MIF 2016

Vice President Abdulla Jihad left for New Delhi, India on Sunday to attend the inauguration ceremony of the 3rd Maldives Investment Forum (MIF).

He is attending the inauguration as the Special Envoy of the President.

The 3rd Maldives Investment Forum will be held from November 22 to 23 at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi.

During the visit, the Vice President will meet with the Indian Vice President M. Hamid Ansari.

The Vice President is accompanied by Minister of Economic Development Mohamed Saeed.

MIF is the prime investment event of the Government of Maldives showcasing lucrative investment opportunities in the Maldives. The first edition of Maldives Investment Forum was held in Singapore and the second edition was held in Beijing, China.

Ministry of Economic Development says it will be partnering with the Federation of the Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to ensure the presence of leading Indian companies as well as global businesses at MIF 2016. According to the ministry, MIF will also be attended by key decision makers of the Government of Maldives and the Maldivian corporate sector, and it will be an ideal platform to initiate investment leads, network and enhance business prospects.

Investment sectors to be showcased at MIF 2016 include finance and banking, real estate, tourism, information and communication technology, and renewable energy.
