Parl. accepts motion to remove Thulusdhoo MP from Clemency Board

A motion calling to remove Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed as Parliament’s representative to the Clemency Board has been sent to the Parliament National Security Committee for review.

The motion, submitted by MP for Kelaa Ali Arif, states that Thulusdhoo MP Mohamed Waheed is no longer fit to serve as Parliament representative on the Clemency Board and calls for his immediate removal.

Parliament voted 43-25 to accept the motion for consideration.

Plenary debate on the motion was held pursuant to Article 75 (c) of the Regulation Governing the Proceedings of Parliament. Nineteen Members spoke during time allocated for debate on the matter.
