StatePharma begins collaboration with AstraZeneca to strengthen medicine supply

State Pharmaceutical & Medical Supply Corporation Ltd (StatePharma) has begun working with European pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca to improve uninterrupted access to high-quality medicines in the Maldives.

A key consultation meeting was held today between representatives of StatePharma and AstraZeneca to explore ways to improve access to essential medicines and healthcare services required by the Maldivian health sector.

State Pharmaceuticals Managing Director Dr Shah Mahir attended the meeting, while AstraZeneca was represented by the company's Country Business Manager, Abhishek Kaushik.

According to StatePharma, the main objective of the meeting was to strengthen arrangements to ensure the reliable supply of essential medicines needed in the Maldives and establish a long-term partnership between the two organisations. Both sides also held extensive discussions on key areas that should be prioritised to further develop the country's healthcare system.

StatePharma said one of its foremost priorities is to provide high-quality medicines to the Maldivian public. To achieve this objective, the company is maintaining close partnerships with internationally renowned pharmaceutical manufacturers while continuing efforts to strengthen the country's healthcare sector.

AstraZeneca is one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies, providing medicines and healthcare-related products and services to more than 125 countries. StatePharma noted that its collaboration with AstraZeneca would significantly strengthen efforts to ensure uninterrupted access to high-quality medicines required in the Maldives.

StatePharma is also working to establish a system that forecasts medicine demand and maintains adequate stock levels to ensure the availability of medicines required across the country. In addition, the company is developing storage warehouses in different regions of the Maldives to facilitate easier access to medicines nationwide.
