The Maldives and United Arab Emirates (UAE) have discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties in trade and tourism.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Maldivian Ambassador to the UAE Thoriq Ibrahim and the UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism, Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri.
Ambassador Thoriq said the meeting covered a wide range of areas concerning the further strengthening of trade and tourism relations between the Maldives and the UAE.
He added that the two sides also discussed ways to enhance cooperation on matters of mutual economic interest and to take the strong relations between the Maldives and the UAE to new levels.
According to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation more than 8,000 tourists from the UAE has visited the Maldives in the first seven months of this year.
