MHC celebrates third anniversary

Maldives Hajj Corporation Ltd. (MHC) said on Thursday that it had made significant progress over the past three years.

The state-owned company was officially incorporated on January 19, 2015, but has been operating since 2013.

In 2015, MHC introduced a special scheme allowing employees of member agencies and companies to pay for Hajj and Umrah pilgrimages through monthly installments. It expects all government offices and state-owned companies to become members of the scheme before the end of the year.

The Hajj & Umrah tour operator, which was established to provide affordable Hajj and Umra packages to Maldivians, has already sold out their allocated quota for the next three years, and it is now in the process of collecting payments for the 2020 Hajj tour.

Over the past three years, the company had organised Hajj tours for over 2,800 pilgrims.

The government granted a Hajj quota of 1,000 to the company this year, half of the quota granted to the country by the Saudi Arabian government.
