The first phase of the “Masterclass on Digital Content Creation”, a programme aimed at media teams of government ministries and state-owned companies, has concluded successfully.
The training programme is being conducted jointly by the President’s Office, Public Service Media (PSM), the Maldives Media Institute (MMI). It is a special initiative designed to strengthen strategic communication within state institutions, with the principal objective of enhancing the professional skills of staff working in their media units.
Speaking about the programme, PSM Managing Director Ahmed Shakeeb said the training would equip participants with the technical skills needed to deliver timely and comprehensive information on key government initiatives to the public. He added that this would improve the quality of media work within ministries and state-owned companies and further streamline the dissemination of information.
Shakeeb noted that much of the work carried out by ministries and companies often remains unknown to the public because it is not effectively communicated through social media. As a result, he said, important achievements may go unrecognised despite significant efforts being made. The greatest outcome of the programme, he added, would be ensuring that the public is better informed about the work being undertaken.
Maryam Rushdha Rasheed, Assistant Under-Secretary at the President’s Office, said that while the government is committed to transparency, information about projects undertaken by ministries and state-owned companies has not always reached the public in an accessible manner. She expressed confidence that the programme would strengthen and standardise the government’s information-sharing system, resulting in more effective communication with the public.
Participants from the ministries also noted that the training had provided valuable knowledge to further enhance their ongoing efforts in public communication.
Seven participants from various ministries completed the first phase of the “Masterclass on Digital Content Creation”. Plans are in place to expand the programme in the future.
