US donates drug testing kits to Maldives Police Service

The United States Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs has donated 150 drug testing kits to the Maldives Police Service to strengthen the country's anti-drug operations.

The equipment was handed over during a ceremony held at Iskandharu Building. Commissioner of Police Ahmed Mohamed accepted the donation on behalf of the Maldives Police Service.

Representing the US Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, the kits were presented by Enrico Boninsegna and Mihyar Al Nifeidi of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

The ceremony was attended by senior officers of the Maldives Police Service and officials from the UNODC.

Speaking at the ceremony, Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed expressed his appreciation to the US Department of State's Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs and the UNODC for their continued support.

He said the newly donated drug testing kits would enable frontline police officers to process narcotics cases more quickly and efficiently, strengthening the Police Service's anti-drug operations and enhancing criminal investigations.

According to the Maldives Police Service, the 150 drug testing kits are designed to deliver fast and reliable results, making it easier to identify a wide range of illicit substances and support both police operations and investigative processes.
