China is a development partner and global leader, Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang says

China's Vice Premier has highlighted China's role as a key regional partner and global leader, during the China-Eurasia Expo held at Xinjiang, China.

The 9th China-Eurasia Expo officially commenced at the Xinjiang International Convention & Exhibition Center in Urumqi, Xinjiang, China on the 25 June.

Delivering the keynote address at the opening of the expo, China's Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang , highlighted China's role as both a regional development partner and a global leader. He emphasised China’s economic connectivity and infrastructure projects within the region, noting how they have yielded mutual benefits for China and its partners. He noted that despite prevailing global economic uncertainties, progress on these initiatives continues unhindered. 

Ding, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, put forward a four-point proposal to guide future cooperation. The proposal focuses primarily on strategic alignment, high-level openness, efficient connectivity, and new development drivers. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of leveraging the Belt and Road Initiative, accelerating infrastructure development in Xinjiang, and fostering innovation for shared economic growth. 

Ding said China stands ready to further enhance political mutual trust with all parties, firmly support each other on issues concerning core interests and major concerns. He further stressed the country's willingness to explore and expand practical cooperation in various fields, strengthen people-to-people ties and cultural exchanges, and enhance coordination and cooperation within multilateral frameworks with other countries.

The foreign dignitaries spoke highly of China's important role in promoting regional and global peace and development, and expressed readiness to work with China to advance it's Belt and Road initiative, deepen cooperation in economy, trade, investment, infrastructure and other fields, and bring bilateral relations to new heights.

The five-day event commenced on June 25 and will run until June 29, 2026. Exhibitors and participants from 49 countries, regions, and international organisations are attending the expo. Featuring nearly 3,000 domestic and foreign enterprises and institutions as exhibitors, this event stands as the region's largest economic platform.
