The third phase of the Thinadhoo City road development project has commenced.
The project was awarded to the Road Development Corporation (RDC) on 25 February, for a value of USD 22.1 million, to be completed within 1,440 days. RDC had previously completed Phase 2, developing 14 roads in Thinadhoo with asphalt surfacing.
The project was officially inaugurated by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr Abdulla Muththalib at a ceremony attended by Parliament members and RDC officials.
A total of 50 roads will be developed under the current phase. The works include road paving and installation of drainage systems.
The project is part of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge to upgrade roads in islands and cities with large populations to modern standards across the country.
