Parliament approves non-resident envoys to Serbia, Malta, Oman and Armenia

The Maldives’ Parliament has passed the approval for the appointment of non-resident ambassadors to four countries.

Under the Foreign Service Act, Ambassadors to foreign countries can be appointed with the approval of Parliament. The President sent the appointment of non-resident ambassadors to Serbia, Malta, Oman and Armenia to Parliament.

The President sent the name of Aminath Shabeena for appointment as Non-Resident Ambassador to Serbia and Malta. Shabeena has extensive experience in foreign affairs having previously served as the Ambassador to the UAE.

The President provided the name of Ahmed Sareer, the Ambassador of Maldives to Saudi Arabia, as the Non-Resident Ambassador of Maldives to Oman.

The President also sent the name of Maldives’ Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed Hussain Shareef as the Non-Resident Ambassador to Armenia.

The appointment of non-resident ambassadors to these four countries was unanimously approved by the members present at the Parliament session.
