Baa Atoll Conservation Fund to finance community projects

Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office revealed on Tuesday plans to fund further community development projects in Baa Atoll.

The Office said it is planning to open the funding opportunities for applications early next year.The Baa Atoll Conservation Fund is already financing development projects, worth MVR 1.5 million, in seven islands.

Speaking to PSM news, Outreach Officer at Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office Shaafee Ali said based on the success of ongoing projects they were now preparing to launch a fresh round of funding.

He said that “the amount of funding for each project will be decided by board member of the Baa Atoll Conservation Fund.”

Some ongoing projects funded by the Baa Atoll Conservation Fund in Baa Atoll include a waste management project in Maalhos and human resource development projects in Eydhafushi and Thulhaadhoo.
