Maldives makes final preparations for ITB Berlin 2025

The Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC) has announced that the Maldives is making its final preparations to participate in the ITB Berlin Fair, one of the world’s largest and most influential tourism trade events.

Held annually in Berlin, Germany, ITB Berlin will take place from 3 to 5 March this year, bringing together tourism stakeholders from across the globe.

As in previous years, the Maldives will be represented by a broad cross-section of its tourism industry. Resorts, guesthouses and liveaboards, alongside key direct and indirect stakeholders from the sector, are set to take part in the fair. VMC confirmed that 63 companies will be participating under the Maldives’ banner this year, adding that the Maldivian stand at ITB Berlin is nearing completion.

However, ongoing conflict-related disruptions have affected travel arrangements for some participants. Flight cancellations have delayed the arrival of several delegates travelling to Germany. VMC stated that those impacted are expected to reach Germany in the coming days.

Business-to-business meetings will once again form a central component of the Maldives’ engagement at the fair, continuing a long-standing practice at ITB Berlin. Among the key activities planned are a “Maldivian Night” and a dedicated press conference aimed at promoting the destination. VMC said it is committed to showcasing the Maldives to the fullest extent possible on the global stage.

Germany remains a vital source market for Maldivian tourism, consistently ranking among the top five countries in terms of visitor numbers. According to data released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment (MoTE), 167,822 travellers from Germany have visited the Maldives in 2025 so far, representing a 6.7 per cent increase compared with the same period last year.

The government has expressed optimism that participation in ITB Berlin will further strengthen the Maldives’ visibility, not only within Germany but across the wider European market, and contribute to continued growth in the country’s tourism sector.
