Maldives will continue to strengthen social security systems: President

President Mohamed Muizzu has affirmed that the government will continue to strengthen social security systems to ensure equitable access to protection and opportunity for all citizens.

In a statement marking World Day of Social Justice, the President emphasised the importance of reinforcing social protection mechanisms, particularly in a geographically dispersed nation such as the Maldives.

He highlighted ongoing efforts to expand access to quality healthcare, reliable transport services, and affordable housing, while also advancing gender equality and creating fair economic opportunities that promote decent work.

The President further noted that investments in education and skills development remain a national priority, aimed at empowering Maldivians to secure sustainable livelihoods and build a more resilient future.

Acknowledging that disparities and structural challenges persist, the President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive development and sustainable progress, guided by shared responsibility and social solidarity.
