Data released by the Ministry of Tourism and Environment (MoTE) indicates that the Maldives recorded its highest-ever single-day tourist arrival last Saturday, with 11,136 visitors entering the country.
According to MoTE’s latest daily updates, a total of 349,990 tourists have visited the Maldives so far in 2026 representing a seven percent increase compared to 325,277 arrivals recorded during the same period in 2025. On average, 8,943 tourists are currently arriving in the country each day.
February has emerged as the strongest-performing month to date this year. Notable daily figures include 10,462 arrivals on 8 February and 10,253 arrivals on 1 February, reflecting sustained momentum in the high season.
In terms of source markets, China currently ranks first with 49,704 arrivals. Russia follows in second place with 40,141 tourists, while Italy occupies third position with 34,320 visitors.
Tourism performance continues to build on last year’s historic benchmark, when the Maldives welcomed a record 2.23 million visitors. The government has set an ambitious target of 2.5 million tourist arrivals for 2026, signalling continued confidence in the sector’s growth trajectory.
