Foreign Ministry issues travel advisory to Bangladesh

The Maldives Ministry of Foreign affairs has issued a travel advisory to Maldivians wishing to travel to Bangladesh. The statement comes at a time when Bangladesh is preparing for it's upcoming parliamentary election on February 12.

According to the advisory, Bangladesh will be pausing on-arrival visa issuances from Jan 15 to Feb 15 in a bid to strengthen security measures for the upcoming elections.

The Foreign Ministry has alerted all passengers who wish to travel to Bangladesh during this time to obtain the mandatory visa prior to arrival, through the High Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh located in Hulhumale’. Individuals are cautioned to acquire visas well in advance to avoid inconveniences and ensure smooth travel.

For more information on visas, or other enquiries, travellers are advised to contact the commission via their phone number 3320859, or send an email to [email protected] for further instructions.
