Solar–diesel–battery hybrid power system to be established in Kudarikilu

The Ministry of Tourism and Environment (MoTE) to enhance energy reliability and grid stability has confirmed the installation of a solar–diesel–battery hybrid power system comprising 352 kWp of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity and a 618 kWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Kudarikilu, Baa Atoll.

In a post of social mdia, the ministry revealed that with the installation of solar–diesel–battery hybrid power system, the reliance on diesel for power will be significantly reduced, saving 165,189 liters of diesel annually and cutting 405 tonnes of emissions each year.

This installation marks an important milestone on the pathway to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s vision of achieving 33 percent of electricity generation through renewable sources by 2028.
