The Minister for Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusan stated that with the implementation of the government’s Maldives 2.0 initiative, access to government’s services will be significantly easier, eliminating the need for citizens to entreat institutions for services. The initiative will also curb corruption in state institutions, he said.
Speaking to PSM News on the progress of Maldives 2.0 initiative, Minister Ihusan said 200 government led services have already been integrated under the digital network and that over 14 institutions are currently integrated under the infrastructure.
He added, the project aims to work together with all the institutions of the state to take the Maldives towards revolutionary digital transformation and reform.
With the reforms implemented by this project, services will be designed to replace physical and digital queues with a few clicks. Rather than viewing each island as a separate entity in terms of administration and service access, an integrated approach will transform how people experience governance by fostering a sense of being part of a unified network.
Maldives 2.0 is the President's national vision for digital transformation. The project aims to work together with all the institutions of the state to take the Maldives towards revolutionary digital transformation and reform. As per this directive, several state institutions have already digitalised their services.
The government said the project implemented in multiple phases not only describes the strategies on digital transformation but also aims to close all the doors to corruption.
