Severe weather continues across country

Maldives Meteorological Service on Thursday issued white alert as severe weather continued to affect many parts of the country.

The Met office said scattered showers with a few thunderstorms will be experienced over the country with few heavy showers also expected in southern atolls.

It said Surface winds will vary between south-west/westerly 5 to 15 miles per hour in southern-most atolls and west/north-westerly 13 to 23 miles per hour elsewhere. Winds may gust 40 miles per hour during showers, it said.

The weather office said that seas are expected to be slight to moderate in southern atolls and rough elsewhere.
