Waste Management Corporation Ltd. (WAMCO) on Wednesday launched an award and badge to encourage environmentally friendly waste management practices.
The “appreciate” award and “respect” badge, introduced by WAMCO under its social responsibility programme, were officially launched by Environment Minister Thoriq Ibrahim at a ceremony held Wednesday at Radio Building Seneco Hall.
Speaking at the ceremony, Environment Minister Thoriq noted the importance of individual responsibility for implementing a waste management policy. “Efforts are being made to draw up an environmentally friendly waste management policy in Male’ region, he said.
At today’s ceremony, WAMCO presented the first appreciate award and respect badge to two individuals who were selected through a social experiment.
