Fire in Jakarta Kills Twenty Two; President Muizzu Offers Condolences

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has sent a message of condolence to Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia, following the devastating fire outbreak in a seven-storey office building in Indoneisa’s capital Jakarta.

On behalf of the Government and the Maldivian People, President Dr Muizzu conveyed his condolence with President Subianto, the bereaved families, and the people of Indonesia during this time of immense grief and mourning.

In his message, the President expressed profound sorrow upon learning of the incident, which claimed many lives, injured many, and caused extensive damage. He offered hope that the affected families may find strength to overcome these difficult times and wished for a swift and steady recovery for everyone that has been deeply affected by this tragic incident.

Twenty-Two lives were lost in the fire that set ablaze the seven-storey building. The building houses the office of Terra Drone Indonesia, which provides drones for aerial survey activities with clients in the mining to agriculture sectors.

According to Central Jakarta Police, the fire started on the first floor of the building due to an explosion of a battery used for drones. The fire then spread to the upper floors.
