Majority Leader of Parliament, Villimalé MP Ahmed Nihan on Monday evening said legal action can be taken against those trying to tarnish the country’s reputation by spreading what he called “baseless rumours” in the international community.
MP Nihan told PSM that it is unlawful to smear the image of the country in the international community, as per the Defamation and Freedom of Speech Act, and other relevant legislations.
He said legal action can also be taken against those assisting international media to report against the Government, and those who broadcast and re-broadcast such reports.
